This was an actual scene out of a book. When I began sketching, most of the ideas we fit for a standard format which is to have the top 1/3 rd of the cover inactive for type placement and the bottom 2/3rds active for art. Then I decided to ignore the standard layout. In order to create the illusion of the main figures floating above, I needed to shoot the models from a low angle. Then I arranged them high up on the page forcing the type to be placed elsewhere. The actual book cover looks very different from the original painting. It has a more graphic look but is very eye catching nonetheless.
